The dip molding process used by MöllerWerke makes it possible to coat sheet metal from a thickness of 3 mm and thus achieve a uniform coating thickness starting at 1 mm. This creates a robust, fully enclosed protective layer that rounds off sharp metal edges, improves haptics and protects components against corrosion, impacts and abrasion. As a result, the parts can be operated comfortably and safely in use.
In theory, almost any metal geometry can be dip-molded – in practice, however, every contour determines the quality of the result. During the dip molding process, the flow behavior of the material and the possible movements of the robot play a key role. Undercuts, tight radii and complex shapes influence how the material wraps around the component. The robot is highly flexible within its working envelope, but not completely unrestricted. That is why MöllerWerke assesses each component individually and defines process control, immersion and withdrawal movements as well as dripping phases specifically for each part.
Typical examples of dip-molded parts from our dip molding facility illustrate the wide range of applications: release handles that must be operated safely in daily use; grab handles on machines that must provide a good grip even in oily, dusty or humid environments; levers and cable brackets that require reliable corrosion protection; or brackets for fire extinguishers that must function reliably in an emergency while withstanding impact loads.
This is how robust, ergonomic and durable components are created in our dip molding plant – precisely tailored to their intended use from material selection and geometry evaluation through to finely tuned process control.
