Dip-molded part of the month August: Expansion joint for use in building dehumidifiers

In many buildings, reliable dehumidification of the indoor air is crucial for comfort, energy efficiency and the protection of the building structure. To ensure that the required air volume is safely conveyed from the fans to the dehumidifier units, a connection is needed that is both aerodynamically efficient and flexible. This is exactly the task performed by our dip molded expansion joint: it guides the extracted building air specifically to the dehumidifier units, where it is dried and then returned to the building in an optimized condition.

Designed for use in demanding ventilation and dehumidification systems, the expansion joint provides an aerodynamically optimized connection between fan and dehumidifier unit. Its specially engineered geometry enables a uniform airflow and minimizes pressure losses – even in confined installation spaces or where the connection points of the units are offset. This ensures that the required air volume reliably reaches the dehumidifier unit and that the desired drying performance is consistently achieved.

To guarantee the required tightness and dimensional stability during operation, the dip‑molded part is made from a high‑quality elastomer that combines flexibility with robustness. Its soft‑elastic properties reduce vibrations, while the geometry simultaneously enables a secure connection to adjacent components. Temperature fluctuations, pressure variations and operational movements are absorbed without compromising the integrity of the air duct.

As an expansion joint, the component fulfils an important function in the system: it compensates for relative movements between the fan and the dehumidifier unit, reduces mechanical loads on rigid pipe and duct connections and thus makes a significant contribution to the overall system’s service life. Vibrations are damped, noise emissions are reduced and the connection remains reliably leak‑tight even under continuous load.

Our dip‑molded expansion joint therefore creates clear added value for system manufacturers, operators and service personnel. It facilitates installation, increases operational reliability and ensures stable dehumidification performance – day after day, even under challenging ambient conditions. Wherever air and other media need to be conveyed and, at the same time, flexible, movement‑compensating connections are required, this immersion‑molded part is the right choice – in building services and ventilation systems as well as in numerous other industries and applications.
